Counselors
Upon enrollment, campers are organized into groups called "cabins". Cabins are arranged by grade and gender, and each "cabin" is assigned a counselor and one or two CIT's (Counselors in Training). Many of our group counselors are college students and most are graduates of our own CIT Program. They are mature, responsible, and enthusiastic.

CIT Program
This program is available to 14 and 15 year-olds. It serves to promote a sense of
responsibility and helps these young adults develop leadership skills, while also allowing them to participate in many camp activities. The Counselors in Training assist the cabin counselors with their daily tasks. This is an excellent transition from "camper" to "counselor". Please call or e-mail us for a CIT application packet.

Health and Safety
All staff members follow written policies and procedures pertaining to the health and safety of the children. A licensed nurse is on duty all day, and the camp physician is on call in case of an emergency. Staff meetings are held which deal specifically with health and safety issues. We adhere to all state and American Camping Association standards for CPR and First Aid Training.

Instructors
The instructional staff is generally composed of teachers and college students who excel in a particular field. Certification or Licenses are required for some key staff positions such as Health Care, Target Sports, Swimming, and Horseback Riding Instruction. Anyone interested in applying for a position should call or e-mail the Camp Director for further information.

Administrators
Our current administrative staff, led by Director Chuck Washer, has spent many years together planning and implementing the fun and challenging programs offered at High Meadow. Chuck has been a key staff person since 1986 and has been Director since 1991. His Assistant Directors have over 35 years of combined experience with day camps. The administrators regularly attend camp conferences and seminars in order to improve our programs and thereby enhance the health, safety and enjoyment of our campers.
