Meet Our Staff

Our administrative staff, led by Director Matt Spector, spend the off season planning and evaluating the fun and challenging programs offered at High Meadow. Matt has been involved in camping since he was a camper many years ago and still cannot wait for the first day of camp to arrive each year. His Assistant Directors have over 55 years of combined experience with day camps. The camp administrators regularly attend camp conferences and seminars in order to improve our programs and thereby enhance the health, safety and enjoyment of our campers.

Upon enrollment, campers are organized into groups called "cabins". Cabins are arranged by grade and gender, and each "cabin" is assigned a counselor and one or two CIT's (Counselors in Training). Many of our group counselors are college students  and most are graduates of our own CIT Program. They are mature, responsible, and enthusiastic.

The instructional staff is generally composed of teachers and college students who excel in a particular field. Certification or licenses are required for some key staff positions such as Health Care, Target Sports, Ropes Course, Swimming, and Horseback Riding Instruction.

 CIT Program
This program is available to 14 and 15 year-olds. It serves to promote a sense of responsibility and helps these young adults develop leadership skills, while also allowing them to participate in many camp activities. The Counselors in Training assist the cabin counselors with their daily tasks. This is an excellent transition from "camper" to "counselor".  You can register for our CIT program through the registration tab at the top of this page.

Health and Safety
All staff members follow written policies and procedures pertaining to the health and safety of the children. A licensed nurse is on duty all day, and the camp physician is on call in case of an emergency. Staff meetings are held which deal specifically with health and safety issues. We adhere to all state and American Camping Association standards for CPR and First Aid Training.
